About 30 kilometres southwest of Moose Jaw, Sask., you'll find Old Wives Lake.

The story is told about a Cree band from the Ft. Qu'Apelle valley that was facing a severe food shortage in the early 1840s. After a prairie fire that spring, the buffalo herds had left the area and the people faced starvation.
