ILM Staff: Out and About

Have a sneak peek into what ILM staff has been up to lately!

Dessert Night

In mid-April, ILM hosted a Dessert Night in Alberta with the purpose of not only providing fellowship, but introducing Intertribal Life Ministries to others.

"When we first joined the ministry back in 2021, one of our Board members, Len DeFehr stated that ILM was one of North America's best kept secrets," Todd and Krystal Wawrzyniak recall. "We were taken aback by this comment and felt a holy nudging to no longer allow that to be the case. We believe in this ministry and believe the impact it makes in people's lives and believe the Lord God is in this ministry."

So, the purpose of the Dessert Night was to raise awareness of the ministry in Alberta to people who have yet to hear about the ministry-to raise prayer partners, encouragers and even financial partners.

The night didn't just introduce the ministry, but encouraged participants spiritually. The Elias Family (Kevin, Kim, Skylar, Sawyer, and Seth) shared their musical gifts. Then, Becky Kew, from Kelliher Saskatchewan, told how she uses Intertribal Life resources to build bridges with people, and how the resources open doors for conversations and relationships. Kenny House told participants how ILM and his Alberta community have been working together to bring outreach events to his community, to bless the people, love them and help them reach their people with the gospel. Eric and Tayola Brown, from Edmonton, told what the Lord has done in their lives, and how He has used ILM to encourage them, especially in their marriage.

Volunteers helped at the event and provided scruptious desserts. Of the 54 people attending, more than half were hearing of ILM for the first time.

He Is Risen, Gospel Outreach

A week after the Dessert Night, ILM staff members were once again on the road-this time working with Kenny House to bring one of those outreach events to his community.

Easter is a special season in the life of a follower of Jesus, and although many in Kenny's community do not know Jesus, they acknowledge it to be a sacred season. This Easter outreach was about remembering Easter's true purpose. We did so by bringing in four Indigenous gospel musicians and a number of local people who shared their hope stories.

Participants enjoyed music from Ernie Kematch from Sapitaweyak, Jim Felix from Sturgeon Lake, Kene and Milly Jackson from Goodfish Lake, and Amos Badger from Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation.

Besides enjoying music and consuming 200 meals, those attending also shared some amazing hope stories with the leaders. One lady told how God healed her from a debilitating disease. Another talked about how she she broke the family curse of unbelief through Jesus and won't ever turn back. Another talked about how she wants to put Jesus in the centre of her life and wants to learn more about Him. And yet another shared that she never understood how to read the Bible-until a few months ago, when she received a copy of ILM's devotional, Council Fire, and started following the book's Bible reading plan. She's been following it and is growing in her relationship with Jesus.

We are thankful for these opportunities to serve through this ministry, and we are thankful that you are our partners in the faith (Philippians 1:3-5)!
