In October of last year, Intertribal Life was in Bismarck, N.D. to attend the annual STEER Conference. STEER Inc. is an organization that gives farmers and ranchers an opportunity to meet Christ-focused non-profit organizations and partner with them in ministry.
Intertribal Life, since attending, has started relationships with three farmers and ranchers and, as a result, have had five steer assigned to them. We like to say we have five holy cows, because the ranchers raise the steer, and then when it's time to sell, the proceeds are earmarked for our ministry. During the conference, a young lady approached us and started to share her story with us. She shared how she had grown up and the deep hurts and pains she had experienced. She shared that at an early age, she was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), suicidal ideation, severe depression, self-hatred and self-mutilation. She shared that she was so overcome and overwhelmed with what was done to her, that she inflicted similar pain on others.
Then she shared how the Lord revealed His truth to her, how she forgave those who hurt her and how she sought forgiveness from those she hurt. She shared how Jesus pulled her out of darkness and into His marvelous light.
After sharing her hope story with us, she asked if we knew anyone who could help her get this story of how God had worked in her life into print, so that the Lord could be glorified, and her story could help others. We smiled at her and told her she had come to the right booth.
Six months later, we are thrilled to announce that Brandy Demery's hope story, Because of Jesus, has been printed and is available in a tract format, perfectly sized to fit in your pocket. Brandy is a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa from Belcourt, North Dakota. Her hope and prayer for sharing her story, God's story through her, was that it may help someone else who feels hopeless.
To quote Brandy, "Because of Jesus, I am free! Because of Jesus, you can be free, too!"
